Lights and ceiling fans
Lights and ceiling fans for Albany-area homes
Swap a fixture, add recessed lights over the kitchen island or hang a fan that doesn't wobble. We bring the parts we can and show you the old fixture before it goes.

When to call us
Any one of these is a reason to book a visit.
A fixture you want to change
The box is already there and the light is not.
A fan where a light hangs
The ceiling box has to hold a moving fan.
A kitchen that is too dark
Recessed lights or pendants over the work.
A dimmer that buzzes
The wrong dimmer for LED bulbs.
Flickering lights
One room or the whole floor.
A switch in the wrong place
Moving or adding one in a finished room.
What the visit includes
The same steps every time, so you know what happens next.
- 01
Step 1: Booking
A person in our office asks about the room, the ceiling and the fixture you've chosen, and books an arrival window.
- 02
Step 2: Arrival
The electrician arrives in uniform, puts on shoe covers at the door and lays a runner to the work.
- 03
Step 3: Look and photos
They find the cause and photograph it before touching anything else, then show you on their phone.
- 04
Step 4: Written ticket
The job, the flat price, what is included and what is not, on one page. You say yes before work starts.
- 05
Step 5: Work and permit
One electrician does the work. If it needs a permit, we file it and the ticket shows the fee.
- 06
Step 6: Cleanup and walk-through
They vacuum, take the old parts away and test the work with you.
How the price works for lights and fans
Price by fixture, not by hour
Hanging a fixture on an existing box is one price. A ceiling fan is one price. Adding recessed lights is priced by how many and what the ceiling is made of.
What can raise it
A ceiling box that can't carry a fan, no wire where you want the light, or a plaster ceiling that has to be opened.
What is not in it
The fixture or fan, if you buy it. Painting and patching, after we open a ceiling.
Questions about lights and ceiling fans
Can you hang a fixture I bought myself?
Yes. We check the box and the weight first and tell you if anything has to change.
Can you replace a light with a ceiling fan?
Often, once the box is rated for a fan. We look at it at the visit and put the answer on the ticket.
Can recessed lights go in without opening the ceiling?
In many ceilings, yes. The visit tells us, and the ticket says if some drywall has to open.
Will you take the old fixture?
Yes, after you've seen it. Or we leave it with you.
